Little Scholastic

I don't think you can ever have too many board books for your baby/toddler. I am constantly checking board books out from the library, and perusing Amazon.com to refresh our supply and give my 23-month old something new and exciting to read that will survive his curious fingers.

I am loving what Scholastic has to offer in this area. Their line of "Little Scholastic" board books are adored by my son- and even enjoyed by my 4 and 6 year-old.

Here are some of my favorites:

  • Petting Farm (ages 0-3)- This is of course a fun book for my son who loves ALL farm animals, and is especially fanatic about cows and horses. Each page has a fun texture to touch. The pig has a rubber nose, the horses have long furry hair, the sheep have woolly bodies, etc. To top it off, the book comes with an adorable 20 minute DVD that features real footage of (of course) farm animals set to cute music.
  • Peek-A-Zoo- (ages 0-3) This colorful board book is filled with cut out shapes, flaps to lift, textures to touch. My daughters love the fact that many of the pages contain sparkles, and my son loves the mirror that is half-way through the book that he can stare adoringly into. I love the fact that this board book teaches shapes, sizes, and colors- and keeps my toddler quite entertained during church in the process.
  • Numbers-(ages 0-2) This Little Scholastic book covers the numbers in a fun 3 dimensional way. Each page is dedicated to a number (1-5), and includes something fun for a baby to touch. The "1 soft caterpillar" page is a favorite in our house.
  • The Tiny Tadpole (ages 1-3) This board book will teach your little one about the life cycle of a frog. My son LOVES frogs, so this one is extra fun in our house. The story is quite cute, the pictures are texturized so there is something to touch on every page. The end of the story has a fun surprise that my son always looks forward to.
All of these books are available at Amazon.com, and Buy.com, and of course on the Scholastic website.

Who would like to win some Little Scholastic Board Books??!! One lucky Citrus reader will win this cute collection of board books! Enter by leaving a comment on this post about who you would read these board books to. Shipping is to Continental US only. Contest will be open until midnight on Tuesday, August 26th. Winner will be randomly selected, and announced next Wednesday morning. Thank you Scholastic, for another great give-away!!

We would LOVE to have these terrific board books to read as Kai is crazy about animals right now and impossible to sit through church unless I have a different book to keep his fingers busy! (and we do have a US mailing address :)

board books are great, and not just for the little ones - my 3 year old still loves hers! i'd read to both my 9 mponth old and my 3 yr old.

Great for my grandson who loves people to read him books.

My daughter loves being read to, but as she gets older (she's nearly 18 months) she prefers more and more to look at books on her own. Since she's a chronic page-ripper, I'll still only let her look at board books when she wants to do it on her own. I'd love to read these books to her too, in her less independent moods.

I would read these books to my 10 month old granddaughter and look forward to the day she'll "read" them to me. I love these sturdy educational attractive books!

Bippert Family said...

My son LOVES his "stories"! You can always tell which ones he prefers because the book bindings are starting to break, pages are ripped or stuck together, and his mommy can recite the pages by heart. He's at the age where he picks out his story, carries it over to me and climbs into my lap, head first, where he struggles to sit with his feet in front of him. It's the cutest thing! On top of that, any book with animals, my son absolutely adores!

Hi, I'm a pediatric therapist working with infants/toddlers who have developmental delays. This little set would be a great addition to my therapeutic toy bag. Books, particularly those with animals, are one of my greatests tools. These charming little books would be loved by several chubby hands while helping them meet some of those important milestones for language, cognitive & fine motor development. Thanks for hosting!
